CREDO MUTWA INTERVIEW

Immense and magnificent Stone Treasures exist in unexplored profusion in South Africa. We explore Ancient Stone People in the mountains and their surrounding megalithic sites and find intriguing clues indicating human intervention.

I am by profession a Sanusi, a priest diviner of the Great Earth Mother.

I am also entrusted with a huge amount of folklore, which has never been recorded by anyone in this land.

I have travelled far across the earth. I have been to many countries and to many places and I can tell you and dare anyone to contradict me, that the land known as South Africa contains the most mysteries that are to be found in this world.

Everyone knows about Machu Picchu. Everybody knows about the pyramids of Egypt and other mysteries that are to be found there.

Everybody knows about Stonehenge and Avebury and other places of great antiquity and sanctity in England. Very few people know about the mystery that South Africa hides.

Archaeologists have not even scraped the surface of this country.

There are many, many things that wait patiently under the earth to be discovered. discovered.

All along the Cape sea shore, starting from Port Elizabeth, right up to Table Mountain and beyond, there are strange shapes on mountainsides, simulacra, rocks that resemble human faces.

Gigantic creations which seem to represent human beings of every race under the sun.

These simulacra, some of them, show direct human intervention.

They all have notches that represent eyes, hollows where eyes should be. And what is interesting is that when the sun rises it strikes the eye-sockets of these huge images and shines through them.

I have said again and again that South Africa is full of many unexplored mysteries. There are many shining things awaiting to be discovered in my country but because thousands of our people are held captive by racism, by religious intolerance and by scientific establishmentalism, the world is not able to reap the golden harvest which is there in my country.

There are many things that wait to be studied, there are historical sites of great importance which have never been thoroughly studied and some of them are totally unknown.

On the mountains that form the Table Mountain family of mountains, there are stones very, very large alignments of stone that could only have been made by human beings.

Ancient people were very, very observant. They were very, very great believers in symbols. They used to see shapes where we of these days see nothing.

In shapes formed of rocks they used to see messages from the gods… the handwork of the Almighty. They used to settle near these places.

They used to see mystery where we of today see nothing but snarling rocks.

Sometimes, like born artists, they used to enhance what they saw to make it clearer to make it more mysterious.

If they saw a rock shaped like a human face in profile, they would sometimes do things to that rock to make it look more visible and more human. And to those mysterious rocks, they even used to add other systems of rocks, like long lines of rocks.

An excerpt from My People, by CREDO MUTWA (P 177)
Representations of God showing him as bi-sexual with two heads – one growing out of the top of another, facing in opposite directions, which shows that God is all things in all time.In the old days figures of this type were carved on the top of long poles which were then erected in the centre of the village clearing, to be used to measure the time of day from the shadows they cast. In other representations, as in those that came from the old land, God is shown as having a large number of heads, one on top of another to show that he rules all levels of being.

How many other ancient treasures lie in wait under the sands of South Africa? How many mysteries lie for us to discover?
